Welcome Week 2017

Published on the 11 September 2017 by Jess Davis

This coming Wednesday and Thursday marks the return of the Sports Fair (open 11:00-16:00 both days) where we will have a stand manned by a handful of our club ready to welcome you to EUSC. If you are interested in trying out Scotland’s national sport we are happy to answer all your questions about the training we do, how we compete in the University League, the socials we have lined up for the year, and can even explain what on Earth Shinty is for those who have never heard of the sport before. Ask all about our famous annual tour to Dublin, which for the first time ever this year we will be joined by the Glasgow University Shinty Club!

If you find yourself in the gym during the Sports Fair on Wednesday come see us demonstrate how to swing a caman at the Squash Courts (14:30-15:00).

You will have the chance to try your hand at the sport with our FREE Welcome Week Taster Sessions on Thursday after the fair (17:00-18:30) and Saturday (15:00-16:30) where we will meet at the Green Hut on the Meadows. No sign up necessary for these! Just bring yourself and wear whatever sports gear you have, we will provide the sticks and helmets for you. Once you are hooked on the sport you will have the opportunity to attend the first three training sessions of the year free of charge. When you join our club you will also purchase a CSE gym membership. So throughout the year you can keep up your fitness alongside improving your shinty skills.
